Who we are
A University of Patras spin-out bringing scientific rigour to a commercial diagnostics service.
BioDetect is a molecular diagnostics laboratory and a University of Patras spin-out, founded in 2025. We bring scientific rigour to a commercial service: rapid, accurate detection of the bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites that affect animals, aquatic life and the environment.
Our work spans three domains under one platform — aquaculture, veterinary and environmental health — following One Health principles. We combine microscopy, histology, microbiology and molecular methods such as PCR, qPCR and sequencing, and we report results in days, not weeks. Where it helps your decision, we characterise strains and test antibiotic susceptibility.
We are trusted by aquaculture producers across Greece and the Mediterranean, and we work alongside veterinary, agri-food and environmental partners. The laboratory operates in accordance with the requirements of ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17025; accreditation is in progress.
