BioDetect is a University of Patras spin-out delivering molecular diagnostics across five domains — aquaculture, veterinary, environmental, food and vector surveillance. What we do

Bench-side molecular work spanning aquaculture, the environment and the wider molecular-diagnostics catalogue — bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites, identified with method-level rigour.
Environmental Monitoring
Diagnostics for water, soil and the food chain. We screen environmental samples for biological hazards and invasive or pathogenic species, supporting surveillance and risk assessment in the field.
Molecular Diagnostics
Bench-side molecular work across all domains. Rapid detection of bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites by microscopy, histology, microbiology and molecular methods — with strain characterisation and antibiotic susceptibility where it matters.
Food Safety
Microbiological testing for food producers and the agri-food sector. We detect foodborne pathogens — Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, E. coli, Enterobacteriaceae, Bacillus cereus — and run total counts, allergen and shelf-life testing on food, water, surface and air samples.
Vector Surveillance
Public-health entomology and disease-vector surveillance. We identify mosquitoes and vectors to species level and screen them for pathogens such as West Nile virus — supporting surveillance and integrated mosquito-management programmes.
